Meet Megan Bull, OASISS Director!
We would like to introduce you to our amazing volunteer Board of Directors! We have both new and familiar faces. We have asked them some questions so that you can get to know them better. Second up - Megan.
1. How long have you been on the Board?
"I joined the OASISS Board recently, in December 2022. This is my first time being on a Board of Directors, and I'm enjoying the learning experience."
2. Why did you join the Board?
"I have been following the work that OASISS does throughout the Okanagan-Similkameen for a number of years now, and feel that they serve a really important role in our community by working to control invasive species spread and educating the public. Joining the Board seemed like a great opportunity to contribute to the organization, meet new people, and learn about governing a non-profit at the same time."
3. What is your favourite part of being a Director?
"I really enjoy working with the other Board Directors, and the Executive Director - everyone brings a unique perspective and set of skills. It's also a great opportunity to see the behind-the-scenes work that goes into guiding and maintaining a successful non-profit. As someone that's just starting my own career, it's been a really valuable chance to learn about and contribute to financial oversight, policy development and strategic decision-making. Every time I leave a Board meeting, I walk away with a richer understanding, and that's exciting."
4. When you aren’t doing Board work, what do you do for fun?
"When I'm not doing Board work or my regular job, you can usually find me reading, baking, taking in the beautiful Okanagan sunshine, or spending time with friends and family. I also love to travel when I can, and I recently spent a fantastic three weeks in Indonesia with my family where I was lucky enough to see Komodo dragons, manta rays and flying foxes."
From all of us at OASISS to Megan, thank you for all the amazing work you do!
