Meet Ken Sapsford, OASISS Director!

It's #TeamTuesday and once again, we would like to introduce you to one of our directors from our amazing board of volunteers! Fourth up - Ken! We have asked Ken some questions so that you can get to know him better.

1. How long have you been on the Board?

"I have been on the OASISS board for 2 years."

2. Why did you join the Board?

"I was first introduced to OASISS when I moved to the area from Saskatchewan 10 years ago. With a background in weed control research, I was asked to conduct trials to find a product to control puncturevine. Those trials provided OASISS with a couple of options besides glyphosate. I have always been interested in weed control and conservation. I find that invasive plants are a greater issue in BC than I saw in Saskatchewan. When I was asked to join the board of directors for OASISS I thought I have a different perspective with my background and I would be able to bring that to the board table."

3. What is your favourite part of being a Director?

"The best part of being a director is being involved with other members of the board that are interested in managing invasive species and preserving our native areas."

4. When you aren’t doing Board work, what do you do for fun?

"I enjoy travelling and in the winter you will find me at the curling rink and in the summer I will be on the motorcycle cruising the great winding roads off the main highways."

From all of us at OASISS to Ken, thank you for all the amazing work you do!
